Dr. William (Billy) Crow is a Professor of Nematology in the Entomology and Nematology Department at the University of Florida. He serves as the Landscape Nematologist and is affiliated with the Florida Nematode Assay Lab, providing diagnostic services for nematode problems in turf and ornamental plants from thousands of samples annually.
His research focuses on integrated pest management (IPM) of nematodes, with an emphasis on:
- Improving nematode diagnostic methods and detection of new pest nematodes
- Understanding nematode biology and population dynamics
- Developing sustainable management strategies including resistant plants, biocontrols, targeted safer chemicals, and environmental modifications
As an Extension Specialist, Dr. Crow disseminates knowledge through extension publications, trade articles, and scientific journals. He conducts educational programs for diverse audiences including golf course superintendents and nursery professionals across the United States and internationally.
He leads the Landscape Nematology Laboratory, which supports research and diagnostic efforts in nematode management.
