Willem Einthoven (1860–1927) was a Dutch physiologist and Professor of Physiology at Leiden University from 1886 until his death. He is renowned for inventing the string galvanometer, enabling precise electrocardiogram (ECG) recordings, and received the 1924 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for his discovery of the ECG mechanism.
