Dr Will Rollason is a Senior Lecturer in Anthropology at Brunel University London, affiliated with the College of Business, Arts and Social Sciences. His research explores the ethical complexities of anthropological representation, focusing on youth, power, and inequality in postcolonial contexts.
- Education: BA (1st Hons) from LSE, PhD in Social Anthropology from University of Manchester
- Key Projects: Ethnographic studies on football and sea cucumber fishing in Papua New Guinea; motorcycle taxi drivers in Rwanda; theoretical work on compliance and difference
His recent publications analyze intersections of technology, law, and social theory, including studies on aviation disasters, legal compliance, and Melanesian cultural dynamics. He supervises PhD students researching post-conflict reconciliation and urban development in Africa.
Research Grants: ESRC-funded PhD research (2004-2008); Brunel Research Initiative and Enterprise Fund grant for urban youth studies in Kigali (2011-2012).
Teaching: Convenes courses on Contemporary Anthropological Theory (SA3601) and Anthropology in the World (SA1606).
