Will McMorran is a Professor of French and Comparative Literature at Queen Mary University of London, affiliated with the School of Languages, Linguistics and Film. He holds degrees from the University of Oxford (BA, MPhil, DPhil). His research focuses on embodied reading experiences, particularly fictional violence in 18th-century French literature and the works of the Marquis de Sade. Current projects explore how readers engage physically and emotionally with Sade's texts. He has published widely on Sade's reception history, translation studies, and literary psychology. McMorran teaches advanced modules on comparative literature and 18th-century fiction, including 'Schools for Scandal' and 'Lovers and Libertines.' He actively engages in public scholarship through media articles and editorial work for Penguin Classics and Oxford World's Classics.
