Dr Will Bailey is an Industry Collaboration Fellow at the University of Salford's School of Science, Engineering & Environment. He holds a PhD in Acoustics and Audio Engineering (2019) and completed postdoctoral research at the Universities of Cambridge and Sheffield, focusing on machine learning for assistive hearing devices. His current work at Salford Acoustic Labs involves commissioned projects across hearing science, sound design, and acoustics innovation.
Research interests include applied machine learning (TinyML), human auditory perception, spatial audio technologies, and forensic analysis of animal cruelty cases. He has contributed to international challenges such as the Clarity Prediction Challenge and ICASSP SP Clarity Challenge, advancing speech enhancement and intelligibility prediction for hearing aids.
