Overview
Prof. Wieteke Willemen is a Full Professor in Spatial Dynamics of Ecosystem Services at the University of Twente's Faculty of Geo-Information Science and Earth Observation (ITC). Her work focuses on ecosystem services, land degradation mitigation, and nature-human interaction solutions. She leads international research projects in South Africa, Ethiopia, and Suriname, using satellite imagery and spatial modeling to evaluate environmental interventions. Key roles include contributing to UN IPBES biodiversity reports and advising the University of Twente's strategic planning through the Reflection Group.
