Dr. Whitney Buser is a Teaching Professor and Associate Director of Academic Programs in the School of Economics at Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech). Prior to joining Georgia Tech in 2020, she served as Chair of the Business and Public Policy Department and an Associate Professor of Economics at Young Harris College. Her research focuses on behavioral economics, applied microeconomics, and institutional impacts on policy and economic well-being. Key interests include gender disparities in financial literacy, performance evaluation dynamics, student confidence in mathematics, and the structural influences of policy frameworks on economic outcomes.
Dr. Buser holds a Ph.D. and M.A. from Florida State University and a B.S. from Mercer University. She has taught courses such as Behavioral Economics, Law and Economics, and Seminar in Economic Policy, reflecting her expertise in both theoretical and applied economic domains.
Her research has been published in peer-reviewed journals including Sex Roles, Public Choice, and Journal of Family and Economic Issues. Notable works include studies on gender bias in academic evaluations, the psychological barriers to success in economics education, and the institutional drivers of fiscal decentralization in OECD nations. Her work bridges behavioral insights with institutional analysis to address contemporary economic challenges.
Dr. Buser’s contributions extend to curriculum development and academic program administration, emphasizing equitable educational practices and evidence-based policy design.
