معرفی
Wessel M. van der Sande is a Lecturer in the Water systems department at the University of Twente. His research focuses on dune morphodynamics, estuarine dynamics, and environmental fluid mechanics. He completed his PhD in 2024 at the University of Twente with a thesis on 'Modeling estuarine sand dunes.'
Key research interests include sediment transport mechanisms, salt intrusion mitigation, and nonlinear modeling of river systems. He has contributed to nature-based solutions for coastal protection and estuarine management. Collaborations involve experts like Geerts, Hulscher, and Roos on projects addressing dune dynamics and gravitational circulation.
- Received two TGS bridging grants (2019).
- Active in publishing since 2019, with a growing body of work in Geomorphology and Journal of Geophysical Research: Oceans.
His work bridges theoretical models with practical applications, such as using dunes to combat saltwater intrusion and optimize estuary management strategies.
