Werner Bonadurer

Werner Bonadurer is a Clinical Professor in the Department of Finance at Arizona State University's W. P. Carey School of Business since 2008. He holds a Ph.D. in Finance from the University of St. Gallen (2007, summa cum laude), an MBA from the Wharton School (2002), and a B.A. in Business Administration from Zurich University of Applied Sciences (1982).

His research focuses on hedge fund investments, security analysis, and financial risk management. Notable works include his 2007 book on equity long/short hedge fund performance and analyses of insurance sector evolution and alpha generation challenges in financial markets. Teaching emphasizes portfolio management, derivatives, and international finance.

Awarded the 2014 Outstanding Graduate Teaching Award, he has held leadership roles including Faculty Director of the MS in Finance program and the Investment Banking Industry Scholars (IBIS) program. Prior to academia, he spent 15+ years in senior executive roles at global investment banks like UBS, including CEO of UBS Hong Kong and global head of Trading and Sales divisions.
