Dr. Wenxin Chen serves as an Assistant Professor of Practice within the School of Aviation and Transportation Technology at Purdue University. Prior to his current position, he was a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Hawaii at Manoa.
His educational qualifications include:
- Bachelor of Engineering in Information Engineering from South China University of Technology (2012)
- Master of Science in Information Engineering from the Chinese University of Hong Kong (2013)
- Doctor of Philosophy in Electrical Engineering from the University of Hawaii at Manoa (2021)
Dr. Chen's research program centers on Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) Security, commonly known as drone security, and broader Cybersecurity challenges. His work in UAS security investigates the unique attack vectors and defense mechanisms for drone operations, which is critical for the safe integration of drones into national airspace. In cybersecurity, he explores foundational security principles applicable to transportation systems and critical infrastructure. These research thrusts are highly relevant to the mission of the School of Aviation and Transportation Technology.
