Dr. Wenting Cheng is a Senior Lecturer at The University of Queensland School of Law, with affiliations at Australian National University (ANU) as a Grand Challenges Fellow and member of the ANU Centre on China in the World and Energy Change Institute. Her work spans intellectual property (IP) law, environmental law, sustainable finance, and energy regulation.

- Key Research Areas: Legal frameworks for AI inventorship, green hydrogen certification, climate policy in trade, and China’s evolving role in global IP governance
Her recent research focuses on energy transition legal challenges, including technology neutrality in renewable regulation, green certification systems, and emissions accounting for hydrogen trade. She has contributed to debates on China’s harmonization of domestic IP laws with international standards and analyzed the impact of EU-US GI contestations on third countries.
