Professor Li's research focuses on critical questions at the nexus of government policy and financial markets. His work examines how government debt is priced and how government debt supply affects the financial sector and real economy. He also investigates the mechanisms of financial crises and the roles of government and central bank interventions. His research methodology combines economic modeling, including continuous-time general equilibrium models, with empirical analysis on time-series and panel data.
Professor Li's recent publications demonstrate a consistent focus on Treasury markets, financial frictions, and systemic risk. His work spans topics from Treasury supply effects on bank deposits to firm quality dynamics in credit interventions, and from granular Treasury demand to the relationship between inflation and Treasury convenience. This body of work reveals a researcher deeply engaged with policy-relevant questions in macro-finance, using both theoretical and empirical approaches to address important economic issues.
Professor Li has presented his research at numerous prestigious venues including NBER conferences, Federal Reserve seminars, and leading university finance departments worldwide. His affiliation with NBER as a Faculty Research Fellow represents a significant recognition of his contributions to the field of asset pricing.
Professor Li earned his PhD in Finance from Stanford Graduate School of Business (2014-2019) and has established himself as a productive researcher with multiple working papers addressing fundamental questions in macro-finance.
