Wendy White serves as an Adjunct Associate Professor in the School of Public Health at Brown University and holds an appointment as Associate Professor at Tougaloo College. Her primary affiliation is with the Jackson Heart Study (JHS), where she directs the Undergraduate Training and Education Center (JHS-UTEC). Her dual focus involves health disparities research and mentoring students in public health and biomedical research. She has mentored over 200 undergraduates and 5 nationally recognized high school students through the JHS Scholar Program.
Education: PhD and MPH from Jackson State University (2009 and 2001 respectively). Research specialties include smoking epidemiology, lung function measurement, chronic kidney disease, and health disparities. She coordinates multi-institution collaborations like the NHLBI Pooled Cohorts Study and CARe working groups. Notable roles include A-TRAC Fellow (2015) and leadership in the Jackson Heart Study's capacity-building initiatives.
Teaching includes courses like 'Public Health and Epidemiology' and 'Maternal and Child Health Care' with dual Brown-Tougaloo campus delivery. Her 17-year JHS tenure combines clinical research with educational outreach, emphasizing career development for minority students in health professions.
