Dr. Wendy Lambourne is a Senior Lecturer and Chair of the Department of Peace and Conflict Studies at the University of Sydney, within the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. She holds a BSc(Hons) from Melbourne University, MAIR from ANU, GDIntLaw from ANU, and a PhD from Sydney University. Her career spans over two decades in peace and conflict studies, with roles including Deputy Director of the Centre for Peace and Conflict Studies and Postgraduate Research Coordinator.
Her research focuses on transitional justice, peacebuilding, and trauma healing in post-conflict societies, particularly in Africa and Asia-Pacific regions such as Cambodia, Rwanda, and Burundi. She has pioneered models of transformative justice integrating psychosocial, legal, and socioeconomic approaches. She is affiliated with the Sydney Southeast Asia Centre and collaborates with global networks like the Institute for Justice and Reconciliation.
Key research projects include assessing UN peacebuilding efficacy, psychosocial interventions for refugees in Australia, and memorialization impacts in Rwanda. She teaches courses such as Reconciliation and Conflict Transformation and Conflict Resolution Theory, and supervises PhD students addressing topics like water scarcity in divided societies and psychosocial wellbeing of African refugees.
