Wendelin Wright is a Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Bucknell University, holding a Ph.D. from Stanford University. She serves as Department Chair and teaches courses in materials science and mechanics, including Science of Materials (ENGR 240), Mechanics I (MECH 220), and Solid Mechanics Laboratory (MECH 353L).
- Education: B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. in Engineering from Stanford University
Her research focuses on mechanical behavior and avalanche dynamics in solids like bulk metallic glasses, exploring slip avalanches, granular matter, and deformation mechanics. Publications analyze force oscillations, shear banding, and material universality across scales from nanocrystals to earthquakes.
Recent articles examine universal slip statistics in metallic glasses and granular materials, deformation kinetics under compression, and critical phenomena in failure mechanics. Her work bridges experimental observations with theoretical modeling.
- Scientific Awards: Fellow of ASM International (2016), National Science Foundation CAREER Award (2010), Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists (2005), Stanford's Walter J. Gores Award for Teaching (2003)
