Weitong Zhang

Weitong Zhang is an Assistant Professor at the School of Data Science and Society at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. His research focuses on developing robust reinforcement learning and machine learning algorithms for scientific discovery applications, with theoretical guarantees. He completed his PhD in Computer Science at UCLA and is actively recruiting students for research opportunities.

Research interests span reinforcement learning theory, efficient algorithms for decision-making in complex systems (LLMs, agentic systems), and AI applications in chemistry/physics. His work emphasizes foundational understanding and practical implementations with interdisciplinary potential.
