Weisskopf leads the Weisskopf Group at the Department of Biology, Faculty of Science and Medicine, University of Fribourg. His research focuses on plant-microbe interactions, particularly the role of bacterial volatile compounds in sustainable crop protection.
- Research spans fundamental understanding of volatile-mediated plant-microbe communication
- Investigates microbiome contributions to plant health and disease resistance
- Translates findings into agricultural applications through field trials
Key collaborations involve applied research institutes in Switzerland and abroad. The group works with model plants (Arabidopsis thaliana) and crops (potato, tomato, grapevine).
