معرفی
Weiqi Chu is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. His research focuses on network science, model reduction, and data-driven modeling with applications in opinion dynamics, quantum mechanics, and molecular dynamics. He holds a Ph.D. in Mathematics from Penn State University and a B.S. from Peking University. Previously, he was a PIC Assistant Adjunct Professor at UCLA under Professors Mason Porter and Andrea Bertozzi.
Education:
- B.S. in Mathematics, Peking University (2010–2014)
- Ph.D. in Mathematics, Penn State University (2014–2019)
Research Interests:
Chu’s work integrates network science, mathematical modeling, and scientific computing to study phenomena in physical, biological, and social systems. Key areas include opinion dynamics on temporal and hypergraphs, reduced-order methods for quantum systems, and inference from partially observed data. He co-organizes the Applied Mathematics and Computation Seminar and the Mathematics of Machine Learning Seminar at UMass Amherst.
Grants:
- NSF DMS-2309814: Model Reduction Methods for Extended Quantum Systems (2023–2026, solo PI)
Teaching:
Recent courses include MATH 552 (Applications of Scientific Computing) and prior instruction at UCLA in programming (PIC 10A–C) and Penn State in calculus and college algebra.
Labs/Teams:
Collaborates with interdisciplinary groups at UMass and institutions such as UCLA, Penn State, and international conferences (e.g., SIAM, AIMS).
