Weiming Tang is a Research Professor of Medicine in the Department of Medicine, Division of Infectious Diseases at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine. He serves as the Co-Director of UNC Project-China and Advisor of SESH Global.
Dr. Tang's expertise lies in epidemiology with specialization in HIV/STI epidemiology, study design, and data analysis. His research program focuses on promoting HIV/STI testing and healthy behavior change among key populations through innovative approaches including crowdsourcing and participatory methods. He has significant expertise in digital health and telemedicine, particularly in evaluating digital health interventions for infectious disease prevention.
With over 200 peer-reviewed publications, Dr. Tang has established himself as a leading researcher in infectious disease epidemiology and global health. His work bridges methodological innovations with practical health applications, particularly through his leadership of UNC Project-China which fosters research collaborations between UNC and Chinese institutions.
