Dr. Weihua An is a Professor of Sociology & Quantitative Theory and Methods at Emory University, with affiliations to the East Asian Studies Program, Goizueta Business School, and Rollins School of Public Health. He holds a Ph.D. in Sociology and A.M. in Statistics from Harvard University, complemented by doctoral and postdoc fellowships at the Harvard Kennedy School.
His research focuses on advancing network analysis and causal inference methodologies, applied to topics like social inequality, health interventions, and organizational dynamics. He has published in top journals including Annual Review of Sociology, Social Forces, and Sociological Methodology, and developed statistical software packages such as 'fglsnet' and 'DIDMatch.'
Dr. An currently serves as Editor of Sociological Methodology and has held editorial roles at American Sociological Review and Journal of Machine Learning Research. He has advised 27 PhD dissertations and 10 undergraduate theses, earning recognition for teaching excellence at Emory.
