Weichiang Pang

Weichiang Pang is a Professor of Civil Engineering and Intelligent Infrastructure at Clemson University's College of Engineering, Computing and Applied Sciences. With a Ph.D. from Michigan Tech (2005), he specializes in structural reliability, performance-based engineering, and seismic resilience of wood structures.

His research focuses on structural dynamics, displacement-based design, and resilience of low/mid-rise wood buildings against natural hazards. He has conducted extensive work on hybrid testing of retrofitted woodframe structures and multi-hazard modeling (hurricanes, earthquakes).

Recent publications emphasize seismic retrofitting of soft-story wood buildings, joint hurricane wind-storm surge hazards, and performance-based design optimization. He received the 2013 AAWE Best Journal Paper Award for his probabilistic wind-borne debris research.
