Wei Wang is a Teaching Professor of Chinese Language at Washington University in St. Louis, specializing in Chinese literature and linguistics. She holds a PhD from Washington University (2000s) and an MA in Chinese Linguistics from the University of Minnesota. Her research focuses on late imperial literature, women’s writings, print culture, and pedagogical methods.
She has taught at institutions including Beijing Foreign Studies University, the University of Minnesota, and Princeton University, and has led summer programs like Princeton-in-Beijing and WashU-at-Fudan. Her teaching spans introductory Chinese, heritage speaker courses, and advanced literature seminars.
Wang co-authored two influential textbooks: Anything Goes (2006) and Readings in Contemporary Chinese Cinema (2007). Her work emphasizes integrating cultural awareness with linguistic proficiency. She has received major teaching awards, including the 2008 Arts and Science Council Award and 2019 Outstanding Faculty Member distinction.
