Wei Li is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at The University of Texas at Dallas (UT Dallas), affiliated with the Erik Jonsson School of Engineering and Computer Science. He leads the Comprehensive Advanced Manufacturing (CAM) Lab, focusing on advanced manufacturing technologies such as robotic hybrid additive manufacturing, bioprinting, and materials science. His work integrates reverse engineering, computational modeling, and mechanical testing to innovate in space-based repair systems and high-viscosity biomaterials processing.
Research interests span mechanical engineering, additive manufacturing systems, robotics, and optimization algorithms. He explores applications in space manufacturing, biomedical engineering, and materials characterization. Recent studies include repairing aluminum alloys using WAAM and milling, as well as computational modeling of hybrid manufacturing processes.
His academic contributions include over 50 peer-reviewed publications (2020-2025), emphasizing blockchain-empowered systems, social network analysis, and algorithmic optimization.
