Dr. Wei Li is Senior Lecturer in Chemical Engineering at the University of Edinburgh, holding a PhD in Chemical Engineering from Nanjing University of Technology (2008). He leads the STEPforGGR project and directs research in nanomaterials and greenhouse gas remediation.
Research expertise includes:
- Design of photocatalytic systems for methane removal
- Development of advanced nanomaterials for environmental applications
- Multiscale modeling of gas adsorption and reaction processes
- Integration of renewable energy with emission control technologies
Recent publications focus on atmospheric methane remediation through catalytic oxidation, solar-driven advanced oxidation processes, and metal-organic frameworks for gas separation. Projects include EPSRC-funded work on multiscale simulation (2021-2024) and Royal Society grants for photocatalytic methane removal.
Supervises five PhD students in chemical engineering and materials science. Leads the Wei Li Research Group utilizing specialized laboratories in the Sanderson Building for nanomaterial synthesis and characterization.
