Weena Gera is an Associate Professor of Political Science at the University of the Philippines Cebu and currently a Visiting Fellow at the ANU Philippines Institute. Her research examines Philippine political institutions, urban governance, and sustainability policy.
Research focuses on:
- Central-local governance relations
- Urban sustainability frameworks
- Climate resilience planning
- Participatory governance mechanisms
Gera holds a PhD in International Development from Nagoya University and has received postdoctoral fellowships from JSPS-UNU and OeAD-Ernst Mach. She is a recipient of the Gro Brundtland Award for Women in Sustainable Development, Bernd Rode Award, and UP Scientist Award.
