- Education
- PhD in Evolutionary and Population Genetics, La Trobe University (2000)
Research Interests span molecular, evolutionary, and population genetics, with a focus on gene flow, genetic diversity, and the application of next-generation sequencing (NGS) to study invasive insect pests. His work includes metagenomic characterization of pests such as Bemisia tabaci, Helicoverpa armigera, Lobesia botrana, and palm plant pests like Oryctes rhinoceros and Rhynchophorus ferrugineus. He develops molecular DNA markers and global genetic networks to address biosecurity challenges, hybridization detection, and biopesticide development.
Professional Areas include evolutionary genetics, molecular ecology, population genetics and genomics, eusocial genetics, and agricultural biosecurity. His research integrates genomics and evolutionary biology to combat insecticide and biopesticide resistance.
