Wayne Hung is a Professor in the Department of Engineering Technology and Industrial Distribution at Texas A&M University's College of Engineering. He serves as the Program Coordinator for Manufacturing & Mechanical Engineering Technology. His research focuses on advanced manufacturing processes, including 3D printed metals, micromachining, and minimum quantity lubrication techniques. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of California (1987), an M.S. and B.S. from the University of Michigan (1979, 1978).
Recipient of the 2007 Texas A&M College of Engineering Faculty Fellow Award, Dr. Hung’s work emphasizes reliability in additive manufacturing, advanced materials, and precision metrology. His research bridges traditional and non-traditional machining methods, with applications in aerospace and biomedical engineering. He has authored over 100 publications, focusing on topics like material characterization, process optimization, and fatigue analysis of alloys such as Inconel 718. His lab integrates cutting-edge technologies like electron beam welding and electrochemical polishing to enhance manufacturing outcomes.
