Wayne Grody

Wayne Grody is a Professor at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) School of Medicine, holding appointments in the Departments of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine, Pediatrics, and Human Genetics. He directs the Diagnostic Molecular Pathology Laboratory at UCLA Medical Center, a pioneer in DNA-based diagnostics for genetic, infectious, and neoplastic diseases. Additionally, he serves as an attending physician in Pediatrics for genetic disorders.

• Education: B.S. from Johns Hopkins University, M.D. and Ph.D. from Baylor College of Medicine, with residency/fellowship training at UCLA.

Dr. Grody’s research spans molecular genetics, focusing on gene expression regulation in hereditary arginase deficiency and cancers, population genetic screening, and artificial mutation sample construction. He has shaped national DNA testing guidelines through leadership roles in agencies like the NIH-DOE Task Force and the American College of Medical Genetics.
