Wang Chen

Wang Chen is a distinguished academic and medical leader serving as Vice President of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, President of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences & Peking Union Medical College, and Professor of Physiology at Peking Union Medical College. His roles include Director of the National Clinical Research Center for Respiratory Diseases and leadership in global health initiatives such as the WHO Expert Advisory Panel.

Research focuses on respiratory medicine, public health, and health policy. Notable contributions include pandemic response strategies during the 2020s, such as designing Fangcang shelter hospitals and clinical trials for antiviral drugs. His work spans chronic respiratory diseases, tobacco control, and health systems reform.

Awarded the First Class State Science and Technology Advancement Award (2014), Special Class State Award (2017), and WHO Tobacco Control Award (2007). Elected to the Chinese Academy of Engineering (2013) and International Member of the U.S. National Academy of Medicine (2020).
