Wan Sonya Tang

Wan Sonya Tang is an Assistant Professor of Hispanic Studies and Director of the Asian American Studies Program at Boston College. She holds a Ph.D. from Yale University and specializes in 19th–21st century Spanish cultural production, with a focus on Gothic literature, gender studies, and decolonial frameworks. Her research explores themes of social order, imperialism, and modernity through literary analysis and media studies.

Her work examines Benito Pérez Galdós, Hispano-Asian cultural connections, and the intersection of television/media with historical narratives. Key projects include her forthcoming book Specters, Monsters, and the Damned, co-editing Televising Restoration Spain, and analyzing Gothic elements in Spanish imperial discourse.
