معرفی
Walter Goldberger is a Professor of Physics at Yale University, affiliated with the Department of Physics. He holds a Ph.D. from the California Institute of Technology (Caltech), awarded in 2001. His research focuses on theoretical high energy physics, including particle physics, gravitational dynamics, quantum field theory, and early universe physics. As a member of the Particle Theory Group at Yale, his work addresses topics such as physics beyond the Standard Model, field theory, quantum chromodynamics (QCD), conformal bootstrap, and early universe phenomena.
Goldberger's recent research emphasizes effective field theories applied to compact binaries and black hole dynamics. His contributions include studies on Hawking radiation, radiation reaction forces, and the classical double copy framework linking gauge and gravitational theories. He has also explored non-conservative effects in spinning black holes and the interplay between quantum mechanics and black hole horizons.
- Education: Ph.D. in Physics, California Institute of Technology, 2001.
Goldberger’s publications span gravitational physics, quantum gravity, and high-energy phenomenology, with a focus on bridging theoretical frameworks to observable phenomena. His research group actively engages with topics like the conformal bootstrap, non-relativistic conformal field theories, and applications of effective field theory to cosmological and astrophysical contexts.
He maintains an office in Sloane Physics Laboratory (SPL 53A) and is reachable at walter.goldberger@yale.edu.
