Wade P. Smith is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology, Anthropology, & Criminology at Eastern Illinois University. His research focuses on cultural and institutional change, particularly the role of discourse and meaning in organizational and societal transformations.

Dr. Smith specializes in military sociology and race/ethnic relations. His work examines cultural constraints on racially focused social movements, the political implications of racism discourse, and institutional impacts of military organizations. Recent research highlights how narrow definitions of racism as personal prejudice limit societal progress and affect educational outcomes.
