Volker Blum is the Rooney Family Associate Professor in the Thomas Lord Department of Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science at Duke University, with additional appointments as Associate Dean for Research and Infrastructure in the Pratt School of Engineering and Associate Professor of Chemistry. He leads the 'Ab initio materials simulations' group, focusing on computational materials science using quantum mechanical principles to predict material properties from atomic scales upwards.
