Prof. Dr. Volker Bach is a Full Professor (W3) of Applied Analysis at the Braunschweig University of Technology, affiliated with the Carl Friedrich Gauss Faculty and the Institute for Analysis and Algebra. His academic career includes positions at ETH Zurich, Princeton University, TU Berlin, and Mainz University before joining TU Braunschweig in 2010.
Education:
- Diplom in Physics, TU Braunschweig (1989)
- Dr. sc. nat. in Theoretical Physics, ETH Zurich (1992)
- Habilitation in Mathematics, TU Berlin (1995)
Research: Focuses on mathematical physics, quantum information theory, operator-theoretic renormalization, and spectral analysis of Schrödinger operators. Current projects include quantum channel theory and ultraviolet renormalization in spin-boson models.

- Gerhard-Hess Award (DFG, 1998)
- Heisenberg Fellowship (DFG, 1998-1999)
Teaching (Summer 2025): Analysis 2, Introduction to Quantum Information Theory, and Master’s Seminar in Analysis. Supervises PhD candidates including Jakob Geisler.
