Voicu Groza

Prof. Voicu Groza is a Full Professor at the University of Ottawa’s School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, where he previously served as Past Associate Director of Computer Engineering. He previously held roles as Professor and Dean of the Faculty of Automatic Control and Computers at the Polytechnic University of Timisoara, Romania. He holds a Dipl. Ing. in Computer Engineering (1972) and a Dr. Ing. in Electrical Engineering (1985) from the Polytechnic Institute of Timisoara.

His research focuses on biomedical instrumentation, medical measurements, and high-speed data acquisition systems. Notably, he pioneered floating-point analog-to-digital converters (FP-ADCs) that improve signal quantization in applications like blood pressure monitoring and high-power generator testing. These innovations reduce quantization errors and enhance dynamic range efficiency.

Prof. Groza has published over 400 technical papers and holds five patents. He has led or co-led over 50 research grants and advised over 100 graduate students. His work bridges computational systems with real-world applications, emphasizing medical and industrial instrumentation.

He actively organizes conferences like the IEEE International Symposium on Medical Measurement and Applications (MeMeA).
