Dr. Vlastimir Sudar is a Senior Lecturer in Critical and Historical Studies (Filmmaking) at the Department of Critical and Historical Studies, Kingston School of Art, Kingston University. He holds a PhD in Film Studies from the University of St Andrews (Scotland) and a BA in Fine Art from Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design (London). His research focuses on Yugoslav/Serbian filmmaker Aleksandar Petrović and Romany-language cinema, culminating in his award-winning book A Portrait of the Artist as a Political Dissident: The Life and Work of Aleksandar Petrović (2013/2017). He co-authored/co-produced the feature film Borders, Raindrops, winner of four international awards by 2018.
He contributes essays/film reviews to Sight and Sound magazine and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
