Vladimir Popov

Vladimir Popov serves as an Assistant Professor at the University of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy (UACEG) in Sofia, Bulgaria, within the Faculty of Transport Engineering and Department of Railways. He has been with UACEG since 2005, progressing from assistant to his current position as chief assistant professor since 2018.

His educational background includes:

• 1991-1995: "Hristo Botev" Construction Technical School - specialty "Architecture and Construction" (construction technician)
• 1995-2001: University of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy (UACEG) - "Civil Engineer in Transport Construction – Railway Construction" (Master's degree)

Professor Popov specializes in railway engineering and infrastructure development. His research focuses on the design, construction, and rehabilitation of railway lines, with particular expertise in railway superstructure, station design, and geodetic measurements for linear infrastructure projects. He has extensive practical experience in railway infrastructure projects across Bulgaria, having worked on numerous high-profile transportation infrastructure developments including the Plovdiv-Svilengrad railway line modernization for 160-200 km/h speeds. His work bridges theoretical knowledge with practical engineering applications in the transportation sector.

Professor Popov is actively involved in the engineering community:

• Member of the Chamber of Engineers in Investment Design (KIIP) - Sofia "Transport" Section
• Member of the National Society of Railway Engineers (NSRI)
• Member of the Academic Council of the UACEG from 2011 to 2020

As both an academic and practicing engineer, Professor Popov manages INFRA PRO CONSULT Ltd., a company specializing in infrastructure projects. His career demonstrates a strong connection between academic research and practical engineering applications in the transportation sector. He has contributed to numerous significant railway infrastructure projects throughout Bulgaria, including railway line reconstructions, station designs, and major rehabilitation efforts on critical transportation corridors.
