Vladimir Douhovnikoff is Associate Professor of Biology at Bowdoin College, teaching ecology, conservation, and ecological genetics. His research uses field sampling and molecular tools to study clonal plants, examining how epigenetic mechanisms enable adaptation to environmental change. Recent work investigates epigenetic variation in Phragmites australis and stomatal traits in invasive grasses, with implications for conservation under climate change.
Publications span plant ecology, genetics, and epigenetics (e.g., American Journal of Botany, Ecology and Evolution). Education includes a Ph.D. and M.S. from UC Berkeley. Courses taught: Biological Principles II (BIOL 1102).
