Vitalii Kriukov

Dr. Vitalii Kriukov is a Research Fellow at Aston University's School of Computer Science and Digital Technologies, within the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences. His research focuses on geospatial data analysis, ecosystem services, and environmental management, with particular emphasis on habitat connectivity and biodiversity conservation in urban and protected areas.

His work explores applications of geographic information systems (GIS) and ecological modeling to address challenges in land use planning, environmental governance, and sustainability. Current projects investigate terrestrial habitat connectivity and biodiversity monitoring using automated sensors and deep learning techniques.

Recent publications demonstrate a consistent focus on developing geospatial workflows that support environmental decision-making, particularly in relation to the European Green Deal. His research contributes to methodological advances in ecological assessment and conservation planning.
