Vishal Thomas, Ph.D., is a Lecturer in the Department of Bioengineering at Clemson University. He holds a Ph.D. in Bioengineering (2024), M.S. in Bioengineering (2022), Sc.M. in Mechanics of Solids (Brown University, 2016), and a B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering (2013). His research focuses on biomaterials for cartilage regeneration, orthopedic implants, and 3D bioprinting applications. He has pioneered novel scaffold designs for cartilage repair and has been recognized for his impactful research through awards like the 3MT Nationalist (2024) and Regional Champion (2024). Thomas also actively mentors students in medical device design and has contributed to patents on orthopedic implants.
