Dr. Virginie Mengin is a Senior Research Officer at the School of Life Sciences, University of Essex, working in the research group of Prof. Christine Raines. Her expertise spans plant biology, physiology, and molecular biology, with a focus on carbon metabolism, photosynthesis, light signaling, and chronobiology. She investigates central carbon metabolism, plant physiology, gene editing, and large-scale phenotyping. Her research emphasizes sustainable agriculture and synthetic biology. Dr. Mengin holds a post-doctoral position and contributes to multidisciplinary projects leveraging cutting-edge science for agricultural advancements.
Her work spans plant metabolism, circadian rhythms, and metabolic flux analysis. Publications highlight studies on SnRK1 kinase activity, circadian clock mutants, and photosystem I integration with metabolism. Her articles reflect expertise in computational modeling, metabolic regulation, and environmental responses in plants.
Dr. Mengin collaborates extensively with international teams, advancing understanding of plant metabolic networks and their applications in sustainable agriculture. She is based at the Colchester Campus and can be contacted at v.mengin@essex.ac.uk.
