Virginie Barral

Dr. Virginie Barral is a Senior Lecturer in Law at Goldsmiths, University of London, specializing in international law with focus on environmental challenges, sustainability, and climate justice. She holds a Ph.D. from the European University Institute and postgraduate degrees from University College London and Université Paris 2 Panthéon Assas.

Her research examines sustainability paradigms, environmental justice frameworks, biodiversity conservation, natural resource management, sovereignty theories, and cultural identity in legal contexts. Recent publications analyze distributive justice in sustainable development and environmental governance mechanisms.

Dr. Barral serves as General Rapporteur for Distributive Justice and Sustainable Development and contributes to the Global Pact Coalition working with UNEP.
