Vinzent Markus

Prof. Vinzent Markus is a distinguished academic currently serving as Professor for the History of Theology at King’s College London (KCL) since 2010 and a Fellow at the Max-Weber-Kolleg, Erfurt University since 2012. He holds a Ph.D. from Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität Munich (1987–91) and a Habilitation from Ruprecht-Karls Universität Heidelberg (1991–95). His research focuses on Patristic and Medieval Studies, philosophical theology, and contemporary theological issues, with notable grants including a £680,000 AHRC grant on Meister Eckhart’s work and a British Academy grant on Early Christian Iconography. He has led major projects like the Trialogue of Cultures initiative and directed the International Conference on Patristic Studies since 2003.
