Prof. Vinzent Markus is a distinguished academic currently serving as Professor for the History of Theology at King’s College London (KCL) since 2010 and a Fellow at the Max-Weber-Kolleg, Erfurt University since 2012. He holds a Ph.D. from Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität Munich (1987–91) and a Habilitation from Ruprecht-Karls Universität Heidelberg (1991–95). His research focuses on Patristic and Medieval Studies, philosophical theology, and contemporary theological issues, with notable grants including a £680,000 AHRC grant on Meister Eckhart’s work and a British Academy grant on Early Christian Iconography. He has led major projects like the Trialogue of Cultures initiative and directed the International Conference on Patristic Studies since 2003. His editorial roles include leading journals like Studia Patristica and Eckhart: Texts and Studies. Awards include Fellowships from TOPOI (2014) and the Max-Weber-Kolleg (2012).
