Vinh Nguyen is an Associate Professor at the University of Waterloo, specializing in Asian diasporic literatures, critical refugee studies, and creative writing. He holds a BA from the University of Calgary, and an MA and PhD from McMaster University. His teaching portfolio includes courses on Global Literatures, Fiction, and Global Asian Diaspora.
Research Focus: Nguyen's work explores refugee narratives, diasporic identities, and cultural memory through interdisciplinary lenses including critical race theory, film studies, and auto/biography. His current projects include a study of refugee cinema and a novel exploring Vietnamese Canadian experiences.
Publications: His extensive scholarship demonstrates consistent focus on refugee representation, memory politics, and transnational identities. Recent works like 'The Migrant Rain Falls in Reverse' (2025) blend creative and critical approaches to displacement narratives.
