Professor Vincent Stefaan Rijmen is affiliated with the Department of Informatics at the University of Bergen. His research focuses on symmetric cryptography, including block ciphers, hash functions, and cryptanalysis, as well as implementation security against side-channel attacks. He has contributed to numerous peer-reviewed publications in journals like Journal of Cryptology and IACR Transactions on Symmetric Cryptology. His work spans topics such as multidimensional linear cryptanalysis, white-box cryptography, and key-recovery attacks on AES. He has also held editorial roles, including contributions to Journal of Cryptology and preface writing for LNCS volumes. His research emphasizes practical applications of cryptographic algorithms and their security evaluation.
Key research themes include cryptanalysis methodologies, cipher design, and countermeasures against implementation-based attacks. Recent work highlights advancements in Feistel cipher analysis, message authentication protocols (PPP/PPP-RTK), and efficient white-box encryption techniques like WARX. His collaborations span institutions such as KU Leuven and international universities.
