Vincent Poitout

Vincent Poitout is a full Professor at Université de Montréal’s Faculty of Medicine and holds dual roles as Director of Research and Innovation at the CHUM and Scientific Director of the CHUM Research Centre. Effective June 2025, he will serve as Vice-Rector of Research, Discovery, Creation and Innovation at Université de Montréal, succeeding Marie-Josée Hébert. His research focuses on type 2 diabetes, particularly the interplay between fatty acids and pancreatic beta-cell function. He previously held the Canada Research Chair in Diabetes and Pancreatic Beta-Cell Function (2006–2020) and has an extensive academic background, including a veterinary medicine doctorate from École nationale vétérinaire d'Alfort and a life sciences doctorate from Université Paris IV.
