Vincent Pialoux is a Professor at Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1 and leads the Atherosclerosis, Thrombosis and Physical Activity (ATPA) research team at the Inter-university Laboratory of Human Movement Biology. His research investigates the biological mechanisms of physical activity in vascular diseases and cancer, with a focus on atherosclerosis plaque vulnerability and oxidative stress.
His primary research areas include:
- Exercise physiology and vascular health
- Oxidative stress and hypoxia
- Physical activity in cancer and sickle cell disease
- Rehabilitation and sedentary behavior
His recent publications (2020–2024) reflect a strong emphasis on exercise oncology, high-altitude physiology, and redox biology, with studies published in journals such as Frontiers in Immunology, Lancet Regional Health - Americas, and Antioxidants & Redox Signaling. These works often involve mouse models, human cross-sectional studies, and systematic reviews.
His scientific awards include:
- Member of the Institut Universitaire de France (2014–2019)
Dr. Pialoux has supervised 14 postdoctoral and PhD students and has served as an external reviewer for over 30 PhD and HDR candidates. He is actively involved in academic service as an Associate Editor for Frontiers in Physiology and Oxidative Medicine and Cellular Longevity, and as a reviewer for the Canadian Institutes of Health Research. He has been an invited speaker over 40 times across six countries.
He leads the ATPA team, which conducts interdisciplinary research on physical activity and vascular pathologies, supported by major national and international grants.
