Vincent Nowak

Dr. Vincent Nowak is a Post-doctoral Research Fellow at the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) in Canberra, Australia. His research focuses on utilizing multi-omic methods and strain engineering to characterize natural products from microbial sources for agricultural applications.

His educational background includes:

Dr. Nowak's research journey began with marine biology, sparked by his family's move from inland Germany to coastal New Zealand at age 16. His fascination with microbes led him to study metagenomics of microbial communities associated with marine sponges during his Master's, and he expanded this focus to identifying natural products from sponge-associated bacteria using genomics-driven discovery and synthetic biology for his PhD.

Currently, his work centers on exploring endophytic Actinobacteria as biological alternatives to chemical compounds in agriculture. His interdisciplinary approach combines microbiology, bioinformatics, and synthetic biology to develop sustainable crop protection solutions through strain engineering and multi-omic characterization of microbial natural product potential.
