معرفی
Prof. Vincent Moulton is a Professor in Computational Biology at the University of East Anglia's School of Computing Sciences. He serves as Director of the Computational Biology Laboratory and has held academic roles at institutions including Uppsala University (Sweden) and Mid Sweden University. His research focuses on phylogenetics, metagenomics, bioinformatics algorithms, and discrete structures like graphs and finite metric spaces.
Education
- BSc in Mathematics, University of Warwick (1987)
- MSc in Mathematics, University of Washington (1991)
- PhD in Mathematics, Duke University (1994)
- Docent in Mathematics, Umea University (1999)
Research Interests
Prof. Moulton’s work spans phylogenetic network analysis, computational methods for metagenomics, RNA bioinformatics, and metabolic modeling. He develops algorithms and tools like QuasiDec, MIfold, and SplitsTree, contributing to understanding evolutionary relationships and genomic data.
Grants & Projects
- Lead on projects funded by NERC, EPSRC, and NIHR, including studies on microbial biodiversity and phylogenetic network inference.
- Current focus: Light-driven proton pumps in oceanic primary production and Arctic Ocean genomics.
Labs & Collaborations
He directs the Computational Biology Laboratory and collaborates internationally, organizing workshops and conferences on phylogenetics and bioinformatics.
