Vincent Gandon is a Professor at the University of Paris-Saclay, affiliated with the Institute of Molecular Chemistry and Materials of Orsay (ICMMO). He holds a Research Excellence Chair and has been a faculty member since 2009. His research focuses on developing homogeneous catalytic processes in organic chemistry and computational studies of reaction mechanisms. He has received prestigious awards, including the Jean Normant Prize (2012) and Jean-Marie Lehn Prize (2017). He is a former junior member of the Institut Universitaire de France and a distinguished member of the French Chemical Society.
Education: PhD from the University of Reims (2002), postdoctoral work at UC Riverside (Guy Bertrand's group), and joined the University Pierre et Marie Curie as an Assistant Professor before becoming a full Professor at Paris-Sud University in 2009.
His research spans catalytic methodologies, functional group transformations, and mechanistic studies. Key areas include gold and transition metal catalysis, C-H activation, and the synthesis of complex organic molecules. Notable contributions include work on gold-catalyzed cyclizations, calcium-catalyzed reactions, and the development of chiral catalysts.
Awards and recognitions highlight his contributions to organic chemistry and catalysis. He has authored numerous high-impact publications in journals like Angewandte Chemie, Journal of the American Chemical Society, and Nature. His work often bridges experimental and computational approaches to elucidate reaction pathways.
